Group description:
Gender is entering the clinical space in new, exciting, and sometimes destabilizing ways. This clinical consultation group is designed to help us consider our patient’s genders and gendered experiences through a lens of curiosity and openness to their subjective experiences. Using clinical case material and occasional readings, we will deepen our capacity to think about gender in our clinical work in a more complex, multifaceted way.
Who is this group for?
All licensed mental health professionals are invited to this group, including those holding limited, temporary, or provisional licenses. Gender affects all humans; this consultation group is for you whether or not you work with trans and nonbinary individuals. Becoming curious about gender as it shows up in the experiences and inner worlds of our cis patients is just as meaningful and rich as considering it in our work with trans patients.
Please note:
Participation for this group is capped at six participants to allow each participant ample opportunity to discuss their case material in depth over the course of the six months. If there is sufficient interest, an additional group may be created.
This group is not a substitute for regular clinical supervision required to attain full licensure. If you are a limited license social worker interested in supervision hours that can count toward your licensure, email me! We can discuss working together on that basis.

Cate is a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Clinical Social Work, finishing their dissertation about the pregnancy experiences of trans and non-binary gestational parents.
